- The idea behind TouchMe
Humans rely a lot on communication to express themselves. This helps us fulfill our feelings and emotions. One of the most important communication tools that we have is touch. We use touch to express all sorts of feelings, from sadness to love. That is the concept behind the TouchMe device. Use human touch to express ourselves musically simply and easily. With no need for music knowledge, whatsoever. From all the range of feelings, we would rather prefer if you stick with us to express love.
Introducing TouchMe - The Electronic Device That Lets You Make Music With Your Body!
TouchMe is an electronic device that allows you to make music using your computer, tablet, smartphone, or other music hardware. In the music world, these types of gadgets are called “MIDI controllers” and they let us control music notes and other sound parameters. Check here what is a MIDI controller. If you are wondering about the differences between TouchMe and Playtron check this page.
Video tutorial on pitch control
TouchMe is such a simple device that it even allows you to make music without musical knowledge. You just need a computer, a TouchMe device (obviously) and your body. Yes, you will be making music using your own body! Trust us, it is that easy!
With TouchMe the music notes change according to the area of touch and intensity. If you apply more pressure the pitch will be higher. Check in the video below how simple it is.
Changing scales and melody
TouchMe allows you to configure the scale and the root note if you would like to have a more melodic approach.
Then you just need to select your favorite sound on the software and you are ready to go.
Get Creative: Connect Anything to TouchMe!
You can connect TouchMe not only to a person, but also to water, or any object that can conduct electricity. For that, you need to have a set of alligator clips (that you can get here) and use the two connections specifically for this purpose on the touch plates of the device. As shown in the video below.
Choosing your own sounds
Learn how to start with a web synth from our library.
How to connect to computer or smartphone?
TouchMe requires a host device to reproduce the sounds. To connect it you need to use a USB cable.
Note: with some computers, smartphones or tablets you will need to use a USB adaptor. You can get yours here.
- If you use your computer, we suggest you start by using one of the online synths that we collected in our library. Note that you must use Google Chrome since it is the only browser with MIDI support.
Note: If you prefer, you can use it with any DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) - such as Ableton, GarageBand, FL Studio or Logic Pro - or other software capable of receiving MIDI messages. You can check on this page tutorials for some software, apps and other online synths.
- Touch the device and your friends' hands to complete the circuit.
